Dear Diary,
Lately there has been talk that many of Vertians from World War I were going to march to President Hoover. To get so of the money that they need to get back for fighting the war. I've heard that things got ugly and people were fighting since they didn't get the money that they had deserve. The verterians had got mad becasue they didn't get the money but then President Hoover than sent the police/ army to get the Bonus Army out and to leave Washington. President Hoover blamed the wealthy people for the miscommunication since he was ask them to volunteerism. They could donate money and give the poor people money or give them jobs. But they couldn't want to do it, but President Hoover is only making excuses.
August, 1931
Dear Diary,
Today I've got news for my dad, he finally made it to California thank god. because we were starting to worry about him, he wasn't able to send us a little post card for almost 3 weeks. My mommy wasn't acting herself every since my dad left. It's scary having to see her like this, but hopefully he's able to come back fast and react because i don't think I can handle all of this by myself. We've been meeting many people from the plains which we call Okies, they have been coming to the cities. They also have very intersting stories they've been telling us, about these crazy dust storms they've been having to face and about how they had to leave their farms since they weren't able to pay. But then lot of hobos have been coming into town we just see them sleeping in the streets and it's scary to think that how my dad looks out in California like they haven't showered for dads. It's scary but hopefully his okay but today you never know what's going out there. But hopefully it's starts getting better!
March, 1931
Dear Diary,
Every since we lost everything in the stock market crash. Our home has been foreclosure, if we don't find any family members that we can stay with we might have to moving into the little Hoovervilles, everyone from our neighborhood are planning to make the move to the Hoovervillies. Many people have already been staying in the Hoovervilles. We also cant even afford anything to eat so we've been having to go to to the breadlines. It's embarrassing having to wait there. Waiting for people to give us something to eat. My poor dad can't stand the idea that he isn't able to support his family. The unemployment is raising it's harder for people to be able to find a job. My dad is tired having to walk around seeing if anyone is hiring. He's been thinking about moving to California, but he's not so sure because he doesn't want to leave us. I really don't want to see him go but maybe if he goes it might help us, but what if he goes and nothing could help our situation.
October, 1929
Dear Diary,
Today was one of the most terrible day i've ever had to live. The greatest way to make quick cash had failed us and is making a great impact. October 29th, 1929 is going to impact everyone and is probably going to be part in our history. I've been hearing the radio and readying the paper that every stock has lots of it's value. They've been saying that they have lost 13% of their value. I can't believe my dad lost all his life saving taking a risk and loosing just like that. This bull market has failed us and we lost everything!
September, 1929
Dear Diary,
Today my dearest dad was able to buy lots of stocks when we he was able to go into the city today. But since we are already using so much credit I don't know if we will be able to survive. We still have so much to pay off, but hopefully all that stock we bought makes a difference. So we can be able to make so extra cash that we extremely need at this point of are lives. Since credit is the only thing we have to survive. Our little jobs we have aren't really making a difference, because before we have chance to spend our money we have to give most of our checks to my dad. So then he can go buy more stocks for us to be able to make a much bigger profit. But papa hasn't been able to go to work since, more and more people aren't able to buy cars were he works since they still have cars their ready to be shipped. It seems that no one could afford to buy a new car.
